News CNF 4 SAFETY Workshops Cameroon The CNF, in conjunction with the Cameroon Nurses Association, held two very successful workshops in Yaounde Cameroon 5-6 July 2010 and Bamenda Cameroon 8-9 July 2010. Click here for copies of the workshop presentations. CNF 4 SAFETY Workshop GhanaForty five nurses met in Accra, Ghana 26-27 April to participate in the CNF 4 Safety workshop. The workshop was arranged by Alice Asare-Allotey, President and Kwaku Asante-Krobea Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association. CNF 4 SAFETY Workshop Sierra Leone Sixty five nurses met in Freetown, Sierra Leone to participate in the CNF 4 Safety workshop, the first time the CNF has conducted an activity in Sierra Leone. The workshop was arranged by Madonna Hill, President of the Sierra Leone Nurses Association and opened by the Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs Mabel Carew. Click here to view the presentations and outcomes of the workshop. Commonwealth Health Ministers' meeting 2010 The theme for the 2010 CHMM was: The Commonwealth and the health MDGs by 2015. The Commonwealth Health Professions Alliance (CHPA), of which the CNF is a founding member, conducted a survey of its members on their knowledge of and involvement in their countries efforts to achieve the health MDGs. The results of the survey were published in the 2010 Commonwealth Health Ministers' Update (Commonwealth Secretariat). The CHPA also conducted an inaugural pre-CHMM civil society debate with the topic: The health MDGs - possible or impossible for Commonwealth countries. Celebrating Commonwealth Day The second Monday in March is Commonwealth Day. Its purpose is to promote understanding about global issues, international co-operation and the work of the modern Commonwealth. Each year a different theme is chosen for Commonwealth Day. The Head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II and the Commonwealth Secretary-General both issue statements on the theme.
